Tecoma Preschool is a not-for-profit community-based kinder committed to providing high-quality pre-school education and facilities for our children.

Each year, our passionate educators design engaging and educational programs that reflect both individual children’s interests and the interests of the group. Our programs are guided by the Victorian Early Years & Development Framework (VEYLDF) and the National Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), which support high-quality learning outcomes through collaborative, reflective, and inclusive practice involving children, families, and the wider preschool community.

Our 3 & 4-year-old kinder programs involve a combination of indoor and outdoor activities, including mat time, discussions, songs, stories, art, music, movement, literature, and dramatic play. All programs are structured to encourage creativity and self-expression through play in a safe, supervised, hazard-free environment.

Our programs will provide your child with a:

  • foster social skills through interactions with peers and adults
  • inspire a love of learning, discovery and new experiences through play

  • encourage awareness and appreciation of the environment

  • We will support the development of positive attitudes and values in line with sustainable practices
  • We will ensure that educators and other staff engage in sustainable practices during the operation of the service.

We welcome any suggestions or innovative sustainable ideas that we can implement into our programs that can assist us in taking care of the environment.

Parent Committee of Management

Our kindergarten is managed by a volunteer parent committee. The committee is the approved provider and is responsible for the administration and operations of the kindergarten. Each year the committee is elected by parents at the AGM. The Committee meet approximately once a month and is responsible for the overall administration of the kindergarten. There are specific guidelines laid down with regard to the financial accountability of the Committee, as well as other documentation required to obtain government funding.

Being a member of the Committee provides a sense of involvement in one of the most important years of your child’s education and is a worthwhile and fulfilling role to assume. It also allows forging friendships with the parents of other kinder children, many of whom will attend school with your child.
